It seems to this property gossip that comedienne/chat show hostess/media maven/cruise entrepreneur Rosie O'Donnell has developed a hardcore bee in her real estate bonnet.
She's got a terraced penthouse duplex in lower Manhattan's Greenwich Village that she bought in the summer of 2012—and that Your Mama isn't sure she ever even really lived in—on the market for $10.95 million and she recently sold her long-time compound on Star Island in Miami Beach for $12.675 million. A few months ago she bailed out of buying Olivia Newton John's water front house in Tequesta, FL, after some dude killed himself on the property while the house was still in contract. She quickly shifted gears and, instead, paid around five million clams for a bay front house in Sarasota (FL).
Now comes word, as first discovered by Realtor.com, the lefty-liberal rabble rouser thus often polarizing Miz O'Donnell spent $6.375 million for a faux French Country style mini-mansion in the upscale (and heavily Republican) suburban community of Saddle River, NJ.
The approximately 5,200 square foot Saddle River residence was originally built in 1928 on nearly six bucolic acres and, according to digital marketing materials, has five bedrooms, six bathrooms, seven fireplaces, a five-car garage, one floating spiral staircase, and—as per Your Mama's snarky assessment—a whole lotta heavily ornamented and frumpy-luxe, wannabe Mario Buatta day-core. (Ouch! Did we really say that out loud?)
As far as we know Miz O'Donnell, her klatch of kids and her second wife, Michelle Rounds, still reside in Nyack, NY on a multi-acre river front compound with no fewer than five residences that—according to our research—Miz O'Donnell cobbled together from May 2001 through January 2008.
